Best example of: developing UX research ops, business process improvement
I was hired by a financial therapy start-up to increase client retention through data-driven actionable insights and to establish an initial company-wide UX research practice. By analyzing existing user data, improving existing data collection methods (1 longitudinal UX survey) and establishing novel data collection points at crucial user touchpoints (2 UX surveys and longitudinal interviews), I discovered ways to streamline the user onboarding process, standardize workflows, and better tailor marketing materials to audiences that engage with FTCI's services the most. The implementation of my recommendations resulted in a 196.14% increase in average monthly paid client sessions ($1,228 average income increase per month) and the establishment of company-wide standardized research practices including a remote workflow to streamline client contact points and ensure completion of user surveys, the incorporation of regular data collection points to continuously monitor process performance, and the application of a journey map and service blueprint in business decision-making and strategic planning.

Best example of: evaluative UX research, digital product development
I conducted generative and evaluative research to inform the translation of an in-person relationship and sex education program to an online delivery model for Kansas teenagers. To inform the development of the online product, I conducted a focus group and 1:1 interviews with the final cohort of students in the in-person program and their parents and conducted primary and secondary research on what students want from relationship and sex education programs, resulting in the publication of 2 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles and 4 presentations at 3 local and international conferences. As project manager, I then led a team of 5 graduate students to convert the in-person curriculum to an online format using actionable insights from these findings. I designed and conducted 3 studies using unmoderated usability tests assessing curriculum materials, website design, and 2 longitudinal online student outcome surveys which I co-created. I also established a user panel of two teenagers in our target user demographic, even in the face of little to no buy-in from our target users. The integration of mine and my team's data-driven actionable insights resulted in the successful launch of the fully functional 15-module curriculum as an online education product.

I led 11 distinct cross-functional teams in conducting foundational generative research to inform parent education programs that support caregivers in teaching their children about sex-related topics. This project involved collecting 5 primary datasets, analyzing 5 secondary datasets, analyzing data using a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and resulted in the publication of 14 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles (plus 4 in progress). Through our findings, we identified the current state of parent-child sex education, what sex education children want from their parents, the outcomes of parent-child sex education, and main barriers that parents face in educating their children about sex-related topics, including target groups that would likely benefit the most from parent education on this topic. Our findings were handed off to program developers and educators and have been integrated throughout 4 in-person and online educational products and services that teach parents how to talk with children about sex-related topics as well as 3 university human sexuality courses and featured in 5 news articles and 2 podcasts.
